Welcome to our database on seed dispersal
The D³ database provides information that is related to seed dispersal of plant species. Currently, the database covers more than 5.000 taxa (trait coverage see Further Information) and comprises
- images of diaspores, fruits, seeds, and infructescences,
- heritable traits related to seed dispersal,
- ranking-indices that allow an assessment how well a species is pre-adapted to a certain seed dispersal mode (e.g. wind dispersal) in relation to a larger species set
- seed dispersal kernels, i.e. frequency distributions of dispersal distances, that were derived from process based seed dispersal models and
- information from literature on seed dispersal.
See Further information to get more information about traits, ranking-indices and seed dispersal kernels.
